About Danny Brown
Danny Brown is a father, husband and Web designer/developer with over ten years experience working with websites and online applications. He lives in Ottawa, Canada.
Danny is the Manager of Web Services at his alma mater, Carleton University. His experience in both the Communications and IT departments has given him a broad perspective on the use of the Web in a large institution. It also provides an opportunity for him to use his diverse skill set: including Web development, Web design, visual and graphic design, branding and Web strategy (SEO, standards, analytics, etc).
Danny’s greatest asset is his strategic vision, which enables him to be innovative and forward thinking in a Web landscape that is constantly changing. One example of this is his leadership in moving Carleton away from a legacy content management system (CMS) to WordPress, a flexible open source platform that he tailored to specifically meet the university’s needs.
Danny is a pioneer in the use of WordPress as a CMS. Over the last several years he has become an expert in using this platform to solve all kinds of publishing needs. From underground hip-hop artists to university deans, Danny has leveraged WordPress to empower hundreds of people to work with and improve their website content.
Danny is also the founder and Principal of ArmedRedAnts, This small Web company provides open source web solutions that maintain a balance of beauty and usability. It also allows Danny to donate time to work on special projects and causes that he cares about.
